Papersky #33 Switzerland
The Movement Issue
It’s The Movement Issue in Switzerland with 2009/2010 World Cycling Messenger Champion Juri Hanazumi. We set out to conquer Switzerland’s lush landscape and majestic alps by bicycle. With a little help from the bicycle-friendly trains, we loaded our bikes and ventured into the German, Italian, French and Romansh-speaking areas. This issue’s content includes our cycling guide to Switzerland which features a tour with Markus from Freitag, a bookstore themed-ride with Benjamin from Nieves, rides exploring the Romansh and Italian traditions, plus some more pedaling in search of the best wine. There’s also a look at the Giro d’Italia (we tried for the prestigious Pink Jersey), profiles and interviews with the best Swiss bicycle makers, a look at the the Tour de Suisse in Lugano (issue #32 featured riders from the Saxo Bank Team took 1st and 3rd prize!) plus a feature interview with Daido Moriyama, visits to Japan’s old paper-making capital, fly fishing with Haglofs guides, Mount Everest through Noaki Ishikawa‘s Life Knowledge column and reports from Nagano, Tochigi, Gifu, New York, Philadelphia and Half Moon Bay (San Francisco) in addition to our regular guest columns. What we found: Although each region speaks a different language and carries its own distinct culture, everybody is proud to be Swiss so it’s land of good people who are genuinely proud to be themselves.
